Description
Over the past seven decades, a recurring pattern of UAP sightings has been reported at or near nuclear weapons facilities, nuclear power plants, and missile silo complexes — most notably in the United States and the former Soviet Union. These reports have come from military personnel, civilian contractors, and in some cases from official government documents later released under freedom of information legislation.
The most thoroughly documented cases include reports of UAP hovering over nuclear missile silos at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana (1967), reports over RAF Bentwaters and RAF Lakenheath in the UK (1956, 1980), and numerous accounts from former military personnel in the US Strategic Air Command. In several documented cases, witnesses reported that their weapons systems were temporarily disabled during the sightings.
In September 2010, a press conference was held at the National Press Club in Washington DC, organised by researcher Robert Hastings, at which a group of former US Air Force officers and enlisted personnel publicly described their experiences with UAP at nuclear weapons facilities. Hastings has since catalogued over 160 such witnesses.
The pattern remains unexplained. Some analysts suggest it reflects surveillance interest in humanity's nuclear capabilities; others consider it a mix of genuine anomalous events and misidentification. The case is included here as an important theme in UAP research rather than as a single incident.

Every Nuclear Bomb Explosion in History (Business Insider)
Visualisation produced by Alex Kuzoian (Business Insider) mapping every nuclear detonation since the Trinity test on 16 July 1945. Provides context for the scale of nuclear activity that the UAP phenomenon appears to intersect with.

This is a thematic entry rather than a single case. If you have relevant documentation — military service records, declassified documents, or first-hand testimony — please contact us via the Report a UAP form.
